What is Rose Quartz
Rose quartz is a type of quartz that exhibits a rose red color to pale pink. The color is usually acceptable due to traces of titanium, iron, or manganese in the material. Some rose quartz contains microscopic rutile needles that produce an asterisk in transmitted light. Recent X-ray diffraction studies indicate that the color is likely due to fine microscopical fibers of dumortierite within the quartz.
Additionally, there is a rare type of rose quartz (often called crystal rose quartz) in color thought to be caused by small amounts of phosphate or aluminum. The color in the crystals is light-sensitive and subject to fading.
